PROFILE
Get the Full Story
I am a young and energetic creative individual with a dynamic yet balanced lifestyle, having many and diverse interests.
I studied at a mathematics high school where I graduated with very high results in Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and in Languages. At the same time, I developed an ever-growing interest in fine art. I had the privilege of working with one of the most progressive miniature artists in Bulgaria – Andrey Kamenov. In addition, I ensured that I participated in the school social life by taking part in the School Council and leading it in my final year. I am also proud to be able to say that, while undertaking all of this, I was still able to dedicate a part of my time to sport, reaching international level in badminton in high school.
Following this, I moved to the UK and started a degree in Architecture at the University of Kent in Canterbury. Kent had an immensely competitive atmosphere, which is and environment I thrive in. It has pushed me to develop an excellent sense for aesthetics as well as a vast arsenal of skills for realizing my ideas. Every new project, each being more advanced and complex than the one before, has helped me build confidence while preparing me for the world of practice.
I graduated on a high 2.1, with Firsts in all design projects in my final year. My lifestyle at Kent has been just as busy as ever. I took up playing badminton for the University team and was promoted to men’s 1st team captain in my second year. I got involved in the Academic Peer Mentoring scheme at the Kent School of Architecture and Planning to exchange experience with my fellow students. Finally, I have been working for the Canterbury Punting Company, which has brought me multiple benefits. It helped me to support myself financially through my studies and taught me valuable skills such as time management and balancing a work-life schedule. Furthermore, that job helped me to forge my strong character.
Upon finishing my studies, I moved back to my home country – Bulgaria, to reconnect to friends and family (including meeting a few new family members). I took up a job as an architectural assistant in a leading, award winning Bulgarian practice – FORMA Studio. There I was able to draw from a rich source of experience, due to the practice's small but very diverse team of designers. I have been given the chance to work on a wide range of project and on their different stages. This opportunity has made my overall experience as a young designer very challenging yet stimulating.
